Jones Delivers Keynote At Alma Mater
Susan Jones, President and Founder of Seed Strategy, Inc., delivered the keynote speech at Indiana University’s Third Annual Women In Business All-Day Conference, held on Saturday, March 1.
The theme of this year’s conference was “Beyond Business: Maintaining Your Identity While Remaining Professional.”
Speaking to a packed auditorium, Jones addressed the topic with a series of entertaining and enlightening anecdotes, spanning her time at Indiana University as an Advertising major, in the mid ‘80s, to the successful launch of her own company, in 2002.
Key to the speech was a model that encouraged students to gain personal insight and achieve focus in their careers by analyzing and tracking two shifting conditions: core traits and outside identifiers.
“I’m still applying much of what I learned at IU, from my classes with professor Robert E. Smith, to my days running the 800 meter as a member of the track team,” said Jones. “It was an honor to be asked to return to speak at the university, and great to share insights from my 20-some years in the business.”
Formed in 1981, the Women in Business undergraduate organization is dedicated to helping “inform members of the different career opportunities, current trends, and attitudes that women may experience in the business world.” To learn more, visit www.indiana.edu/~wib.
