‘Portlandia’ Star Graces Premiere Issue of Seed Interview Series—Out Now on Apple Newsstand
We all want more. Creativity, that is—the ability to transform nothing into something, the ordinary into the extraordinary, the mundane into amusement.
In fact, Seed Strategy recently conducted a survey with more than 150 marketing execs at Fortune 100 companies plus university students, and creativity topped the list of most-desired traits.
To help spark more creativity in the world, Seed has launched a new interview series titled The Fire Theft Project: Conversations on Creativity.
The free digital magazine will present inspiring and instructive interviews with leaders from a variety of creative fields, all designed with the modern reader in mind.
The premiere issue—available for free via Apple Newsstand and the magazine’s site—features an extensive Q&A with Portlandia star and co-creator Fred Armisen, one of his first since leaving Saturday Night Live after an eleven-year run on the show.
Titled “The Reinvention of Fred Armisen,” the article traces Armisen’s early career path from rock drummer to actor-comedian and shares insights into his creative process and the intense drive behind his non-stop work ethic.
The magazine is edited by Seed’s Chief Creative Officer Robert Cherry, designed by VP, Creative Tom Kisker and programmed by VP, Operations/Research and Development David Hayes, with support from the rest of the firm’s multifaceted team.
Prior to joining Seed, Cherry was editor-in-chief at “new-music bible” Alternative Press and has contributed to publications such as Rolling Stone, Entertainment Weekly and Cleveland’s The Plain Dealer. His past and present experience dovetailed perfectly to fuel the concept of The Fire Theft Project.
“It’s a passion project, really,” said Cherry. “At Seed we like to build new things—it’s what we do every day for our clients—so we turned our eye to creating a new sort of magazine experience.
“As for the subject matter, I think we’re all inspired by the risks other creative people take to live life on their terms and fascinated by the process they go through to bring new things into the world.
“As with innovation, you have to look well beyond your immediate space to bring in fresh thinking and inspire those bold leaps forward. That’s what we hope to capture, share and incite with The Fire Theft Project.”
The magazine will initially be available for free on Apple Newsstand in an interactive format designed for iPad, and as a PDF via TheFireTheftProject.com.
