Seed Raises More Than $1,400 for Men’s Health Issues
In a cause campaign that bridged into altered physical appearance, Seed Strategy raised $1,452 in donations to Movember, a nonprofit that supports the Movember Foundation, the Prostate Cancer Foundation and the Livestrong Foundation.
A combination of the words “mustache” and “November,” Movember encourages men to grow facial hair for one month to raise awareness about prostate and testicular cancer. Leading the charge for Seed’s donation team, SVP, Director of Research and Development Corey Beilstein’s family has been personally affected by prostate cancer.
“My uncle died of prostate cancer and a few of my family members have had scares,” said Beilstein. “I wanted to support my cousins and I like how the organization uses a simple physical change to spread broad awareness.”
One out of six men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime and 8,290 will be diagnosed with testicular cancer this year. Movember strives to curb these statistics by educating men on early detection and supporting research. As part of Seed’s donation team, Chad Buecker and Matt Donahue joined Beilstein in growing a mustache and “Mo’ Sisters” Angela Capton and Lauren Gierut helped raise funds.
“It was great to have their support,” said Beilstein. “It was neat to see people excited about it and interested in it and to not be alone in growing preposterous facial hair.”
